Adieu 2025

Image
Gather ’round, folks! Our final and 'only' blog post of the year is here—and what a year it’s been. 2025 surely kept us on our toes! From geopolitics behaving like reality TV to markets shining literally, this was a year of plot twists, drama, and headline whiplash. Grab your popcorn—let’s rewind. Trump’ed: Tariffs, Tweets & a Touch of Nobel: If diplomacy had a blooper reel, Trump starred in it. Trade talks turned into stand-up comedy, tariffs were slapped like fridge magnets, and somehow—somewhere—the words “Trump” and “Nobel Peace Prize” appeared in the same sentence. Economists blinked twice. Twitter never logged out. And the Nobel committee is probably still saying, “We were hacked, right?” International Politics: Canada swapped Trudeau’s selfies for Mark Carney’s spreadsheets. Germany traded Scholz for Friedrich Merz after a Bundestag nail-biter. Japan finally broke the glass ceiling with Sanae Takaichi—though her cabinet still looked like a boys’ hostel. N...

Happy Diwali!

Image
He pressed his nose against the cold window, the sharp, biting chill of the glass seeping through his skin. The winter air outside was crisp and still, its coolness wrapping around the edges of his body like a forgotten promise. His breath misted on the window, a small, foggy reminder of his presence in the warmth of the room. But outside—outside, the night stretched endlessly, a deep, inky shade of indigo that seemed to devour the stars, leaving only the scattered light from the city behind. The darkness was profound, almost suffocating, yet there was beauty in it, a sort of quiet majesty. He felt as though the night itself had wrapped its arms around the world, holding it close in a still, peaceful embrace. Yet it wasn’t the darkness that caught his breath. It was the vibrant, shimmering world below—the Diwali celebration that had transformed the ordinary street into something extraordinary. The festive night had brought life to the sleepy corners of the neighborhood, bat...

Shattered

Image
“I've always been a true believer in my transparency, reflecting equally on everyone and offering them a clear view through my eyes. By remaining clear and authentic, I aimed to bridge connections and provide a genuine perspective, allowing others to see both themselves and the world through my unclouded vision. Then why was I deceived? While I was beautiful to none, none looked at me— only through me . It felt as if I were invisible, a mere presence drifting past their gaze, never truly seen or acknowledged for the essence I carried within. I've always been an introvert, opening up only when someone genuinely wanted to know me. Despite the times I felt overlooked and neglected, I still found solace in comforting others. When they reached out, I set aside my own wounds and offered support, quietly staying by their side. Each moment of their need became my purpose, even as my own struggles went unseen. Their comfort was my solace, a way to find meaning in the shadows...

Valentine's Day had forever been a melancholic occasion for her. While her friends revelled in the blissful entanglements of their relationships, she found herself submerged in a sea of desolation. The day served as a painful reminder of her solitude, amplifying her feelings of loneliness and longing. But this year, to the complete astonishment of her friends, who would typically mock the day's futility, she had a date! The news of her newfound romantic connection left her friends in disbelief. They were accustomed to her being the perpetual single one, the one who would roll her eyes at the commercialized nature of the holiday. Yet, here she was, breaking free from her usual melancholy and embracing the special day. However, she chose to keep the identity of her companion a secret. Deep down, she feared that revealing it might somehow cast a spell of misfortune upon her newfound excitement. Perhaps she worried that the universe would conspire against her happiness ...

A Wedding

Image
She gazed at herself one final time in the mirror, her beauty taking the breath away. Clad in a pink gown, adorned with a glittering necklace and elegant long earrings, her smile illuminated the joy within her soul. The occasion? Her wedding day. Eight years had elapsed since they first met, a memory she held dear. The office cafeteria, rain pouring outside, and an exchanged glance – those glances soon bloomed into smiles, paving the way for conversations. Their similarities were abundant – a shared love for fun, a carefree spirit, an appetite for adventure, a passion for travel, and above all, a harmonious concept of love. It was during their frequent road trips that they realized there was something more than just friendship between them. It was a cold winter night in Dehradun. They were sitting on the logs next to the campfire. The night was dark, and the cold breeze, along with the calmness of the landscape, made the atmosphere romantic. She was staring at the stars abo...

A Conversation

Image
In the late hours of the night, when the clock had long passed two, a sense of tranquility filled the dimly lit yet cozy room, where two figures rested. She nestled beside him, her head finding solace on his chest. "You should go off to sleep now. Let's continue this conversation tomorrow," he murmured, his weariness evident in a gentle yawn. "I don't feel sleepy at all. Please talk for some time," she requested, her voice reflecting an eager excitement.   Responding to her enthusiasm, he mustered up energy to indulge her curiosity. "Ummm, okay! Let me ask you something," she began, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "What did you feel when you saw me for the first time?" A nostalgic smile played on his lips as he tried to articulate his feelings. "Well, I was like, I mean, how do I put it into words?" he pondered. "I wasn't in my senses, I guess. You looked stunning then, just as you do now. Your mesmerizi...

Waves

Image
She stood at the edge of the shoreline, her toes sinking into the soft, grainy sand. The rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore filled her with a sense of serenity and awe. It was as if each wave carried a message, a story waiting to be heard. She turned to her husband of 15 years, who stood beside her, munching on the peanuts they had bought from a seaside vendor. "I just love the sound of these waves. They have a particular rhythm, a pattern, and a melody. It is indeed music to the ears," she said, a smile illuminating her face. He chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "I never knew you were a philosopher," he joked, teasingly nudging her shoulder. She laughed and gently nudged him back. "Well, you learn something new every day," she replied, her voice tinged with affection. Lost in the tranquility of the moment, they both fell silent, allowing the gentle breeze to caress their faces. The smell of the sea mingled with the sal...

Being a Daughter's Dad

Image
Being a dad to a daughter is absolutely wonderful. With her being around, life is fruitful and blissful. I might get exhausted, tired, and stressed with the mundane life. But seeing her at the door, eagerly waiting for me every evening, sums up my life! Her cute toys, her set of friends and her own small world, where she lives in. Her craving for me to hear, be a part of, and live in her world is what makes me give in! Her want of a 'newly invented tiffin box' and the melodrama behind the same, And her constant reminders over the phone because she knows her issues to me are too lame! Her schedules are tighter than mine, and her friends are closer to her than mine. But she still manages to take out time for me, just to ensure that I have had my food and am fine.  She's no longer innocent, but a smart, independent girl. And without her so-called intellectual verses, my home would seem to be dull.  She is growing up, too fast, too soon and not as per my plan. But s...

A quirky recap of the way the year went by 8 billion :  The world population has surpassed 8 billion, with India accounting for 17.2% of the total. Russia-Ukraine war  : Russia targeted Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, hoping that winter would do what the Russian military couldn’t, break Ukraine’s will. British Politics  : The country whose empire once spanned the globe had three prime ministers in just two months. Boris, Liz, and Rishi—the latter’s nationality, religion, and in-laws—add a desi twist to British politics. Inflation Surge  : Inflation had been u...

Freedom

Image
It was a cold winter night. The cold breeze hitting the window panes produced an eerie sound. The curtains swayed wildly, pushing the nearby objects onto the floor. The room was dimly lit. The room was perhaps a testament to her disarrayed mind, a chaotic display of memories past and future dreams. The main space hog was the bed, which was currently neatly done, giving the illusion of order with its frilly bed cover and neatly arranged pillows. Above it, secured to the roof across the bed area, hung an array of dream catchers, illuminating her once strong sense of happiness and optimistic dreams. A chain of lights framed the room's sole window, the sill holding various trinkets to cast a nice shade of nostalgia for her and those who knew her stories—or do they? On the bedside table, lay yet another plant, the last one in a series of failures, a futile attempt to nurture her green fingers. She was in the far corner of the room. Under the illumination of the bulb above, s...

No Trespassing

Image
He stood gazing at the dilapidated house. A big "No Trespassing" signboard hung on the old, rusted gate.   The cold air enveloped his entire body. He gathered his courage and began walking towards the old house, hoping for shelter and food. He had been lost in the woods for two days now and was tired, exhausted, petrified, and pale. The walkway leading up to the house was cracked. Weeds and dandelions poked out from these cracks. Red roses grow wildly in thick batches by the gate. The moonlight cast a ghoulish glow on the house. The vines formed a twisted maze on the side of the house, reaching their tentacles towards the roof. The house's walls had decayed from years of  neglect. Patches of original paint hinted at the house's former prosperity. Cobwebs covered the corners of the doors, with tiny black spiders threading toward their prey.  The door begrudgingly creaked open. A musty, dank smell crept into his nose. The house was eerily silent except for the ...

Betrayal

Image
It's been 3 years since they saw each other for the first time. 3 years of their love story. They met by chance; their heartbeats raced and their stomachs fluttered. She fell head over heels in love with him at the very moment. He was awestruck. The early butterflies blossomed into a mature relationship. She was caring, he was loyal. She was outgoing, he was an introvert. She was bubbly ,he was calm. Perhaps his calm demeanor kept her calm. He used to spend hours gazing at her face as she slept. When awake, they could not keep their hands off each other. He was not just in love with her, but obsessed! Every day after work, they would go on long walks. On these walks, she would tell him about her day, her work, her colleagues, and everything else that came to her mind. At the end of the walk, she would look into his eyes and tell him that he was a good listener. "Indeed I am," he thought. However, things were about to get ugly. He could notice a change in her behav...
