Adieu 2021

Hey All, Welcome to the Blog page for the one last time this year!! The year that was 2021 and Wow!! Same time, last year when we all had eagerly waited for 2020 to end and along with take away the Wuhaan Virus as well. Well 2021 definitely had some other plans. 

A quirky recap on the way the year went by - 

The Wuhaan Virus - Masks, Sanitizers, Lockdown, Unlock 1.0, Unlock 2.0, Unlock 3.0, Unlock 4.0, Unlock 5.0, Wave 1, Wave 2 and now Omicron!! While Cowin did take over Arogyasetu, the Virus and it's Mutants are here to stay!! Mask On!!

Natural Calamities - Glacier Burst in Uttarakhand, Tauktae in Gujarat, Cyclone Yaas in Odisha, floods in Canada, Volcano in Spain, Floods in Germany and Belgium and many other acts of Mother Nature took Million of Lives and displaced Lakhs of people world over. #Globalwarming #GlobalWARNING!!

Olympics - 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals for India at Tokyo Olympics!! The best record in 4 decades and the leap of faith seems to be as good as Neeraj's Javelin throw!!!

Thalaiva - IPL, CSK in finals and we all know the script. The script which had Thalaiva written all over it. Take a bow MSD.

Biden - 46th President of the USA, Biden won. Trump refrained from Resigning. The Capitol witnessed riots. Kamala Harris made 1.3 Billion of us Indians smile.

Taliban - Biden decided to withdraw the US troops from Afghanistan, thus paving way for Taliban to rule over Kabul again after 20 long hard fought battle. Winners - None, Losers - Humanity.

Politics - Mamata Won. Farmers Won. Siddhu rose. Captain left. Lotus still blooming, Raga - Major Missing. NCB vs NCP was the flavor though. Wankhede, Malik, Aryan and Arthur road hogged the major limelight for those 22 days!!Cruise along as they say!

Cricket - India lost the WTC Final. India lost to Pakistan in the World cup. The Mauka Mauka Guy lost his livelihood. Virat as Test Captain, Rohit as White Ball captain. The coach is now the wall, the ex-coach with his Old monk will stay tall!

Bollywood - Aamir split, Salman was bit, Aryan khan was on the cruise. Not a great year for the Khans. Sooryavashi was the biggest hit of the year, whilst Vicky Kaushal walked away with all Smiles!!

Tata - Air India - It took 68 years for the Maharaja to come back home. From JRD in 1932 to N. Chandrasekaran in 2021, the Rs.18000 crore buy back of sorts will be cherished for a long time! Truly Indian..

Goodbyes - From Milkha Singh to Yashpal Sharam, From Yusuf Saahab to Surekha Sikri, From Rajiv Kapoor to Puneeth, From Rohit Sardana to Vinod Dua, From Kalyan Singh to Tarun Gogoi and Many other beloved souls bid us a teary goodbye. Rest in peace. A special Mention to the Fallen Soldier - CDS Rawat Sir.

Economy - The Equities surged to record highs whilst the Economy witnessed a K Shaped recovery. Unemployment, Inflation and Omicron remain the biggest challenges. Congratulations to the NYKAA shareholders, hard luck to the Paytm ones!!

The Waiting Game - The wait for the Virus to get over, the wait to move around sans the mask, the wait to travel around the globe with only Visa and not PCR tests, the wait to see kids in school uniforms, the wait for a better world and the wait for 2022 to finally usher in with happiness, peace and smiles!

2020 had caught the human race by surprise; letting us know how unprepared we are against the Almighty Nature. While we lost 1.76 Million people world over, the rest have been taught a lesson for life. 366 days of 2020 will be forever etched in our memories for teaching us not to take life, family and liberty for granted.

2021 was the year to hold our heads high. Amidst the tragedies and the setbacks, we learned how to put others before ourselves. Despite resistance, despite pushback, We persisted. This is a world of resilience, a world propelled by the belief that overcoming the impossible is in fact; Possible!!

Saying that, lets hope for a better future and a fantastic 2022 ahead!
