Red Booth || FICKLE EMOTIONS

Image
Year - 1977 It was a cold winter night in Osmanabad and in a relatively laid back by-lane of the town stood a vintage but beautiful Red Telephone booth. The Red booth had withstood the changing times and had time and again been repaired and painted by its owner, Mr. Sawant. "Rajveer's fever has subdued now and he is much better. In fact I fed him twice today and he is peacefully sleeping now"said Neelam. "Great. You take of him and yourself too. Miss you both a lot. Bye" came the reply from her husband Samar."Miss you too Samar. Will call you tomorrow. Bye" she said in a sad tone. Samar was an Army officer and was posted in the Kashmir region. "Samar Kumar, you are required to join your regiment in the next 48 hours. All leaves have been cancelled and it's an emergency" was the phone call which made Samar leave his 9 month pregnant wife. Rajveer was born the very next day. "Are you ok Samar? We heard on the radio tod

"Priya!!! How much time will you take? I am starving." shouted Pankaj waiting at the dining table. Priya rushed out saying "Dad, how many times have I told you to not wait for me. You should've had your dinner if you're so hungry" and she started serving the food. "I don't know how to eat without you dear" he said and smiled. Priya had lost her mother just after she was born and for the last 25 years, it was Pankaj who was both mumma and papa for her. Pankaj had been a doting father. Right from changing her nappies to tying her hair to making her tiffin to dropping her to school and well... everything in both their lives revolved only around them. "So all set for tomorrow, Dad?" she asked with a sheepish smile. "Yeah, well almost" he said blushing. Pankaj and Sharon were going to get married the next day. Sharon was a family friend and had been a widow for last 15 years. Priya was extremely fond of Sharon and vice v

"Where the hell have you been the entire day Rahul? I called you 5 times and you did not answer even once. No call back, no reply to my messages? What the hell is wrong with you?"  shouted Nidhi in utter frustration. "I am so sorry, my super boss was here the entire day and was really occupied in a series of meetings. Did not have time even for food."  was his reply. "You just don't care anymore Rahul and I too have feelings, remember?!" Saying this she hung up. Rahul, who was driving on his way back home called her back repeatedly but she would just not pick up!! Rahul and Nidhi had first met each other in college, almost 6 years ago. They had instantly kicked off and it was the Valentines day of 2011 when he had proposed her at Madras Cafe over a lunch date. And Nidhi, who also was madly in love with him had instantly said yes. Years passed by and their relationship kept on evolving and became stronger. After completing their education,

It was 10 pm and Dadar station was about to arrive in an hour. "Never thought it would be such a lovely day yaar" said Sneha. "Same here Sneha, it is fun to have someone just like you to talk to especially on boring trips" said Kartik while taking out his bag from the upper berth. Sneha and Kartik worked for a healthcare company in Mumbai and had to travel to Baroda every Saturday for work. While Sneha had been working there since 5 years,  Kartik had just joined recently . She was married and had a 8 month old son and was living a typical working woman life in Mumbai. She was trying her best to manage both her worlds and in between has lost her own self. Kartik, who was 4 years younger than her was a smart, impressive young man with a charming personality. Sneha used to travel to Baroda every Saturday but all alone and she really used to hate it. Her train journeys were often spent thinking about her life and missing her son. Now that she finally had com

In a very sad tone he said "You know how hard I am trying, but these guys  just  won't allow me a holiday. Work, work and work is all I do." Hearing this, she hung up the phone. The distance was suffocating her. She knew deep down that Akshit was not doing all this intentionally, that even he is tied down. But her emotions were just overwhelming now. "I don't think long distance will work out" , was Shreya's clear message to Akshit when he had told her about his Onsite Job in a different country. But time had its own plans.And now the only thing that they both could do was just wait, wait and wait. Anyway, she hung up the phone and started crying for a long time. Meanwhile it was a 15 minute lunch break for Akshit and the entire time was spent talking to her. He did not eat anything and had to go back to work. He was about to start and suddenly got a beep on his phone. "Make an excuse of an upset stomach and come out. There's an emerge
