Waves

She stood at the edge of the shoreline, her toes sinking into the soft, grainy sand. The rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore filled her with a sense of serenity and awe. It was as if each wave carried a message, a story waiting to be heard. She turned to her husband of 15 years, who stood beside her, munching on the peanuts they had bought from a seaside vendor.

"I just love the sound of these waves. They have a particular rhythm, a pattern, and a melody. It is indeed music to the ears," she said, a smile illuminating her face.

He chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "I never knew you were a philosopher," he joked, teasingly nudging her shoulder.

She laughed and gently nudged him back. "Well, you learn something new every day," she replied, her voice tinged with affection.

Lost in the tranquility of the moment, they both fell silent, allowing the gentle breeze to caress their faces. The smell of the sea mingled with the salty air, creating a symphony of scents. The sun began its descent towards the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the water. The sight was breath-taking, overwhelming their senses with its ethereal beauty.

As a writer, she found solace in the calmness of the beach, a respite from the chaos of the world. It was here, amidst the ebb and flow of the waves, that her thoughts found clarity and her pen found its voice. The beach was her sanctuary, a place where inspiration flowed freely, and where her mind could wander, untethered by the demands of everyday life. He, on the other hand, had never shared the same affinity for the beach.

"You know," he began, a contemplative expression on his face. "I have never quite enjoyed coming to the beach. The sunsets, the waves, and the sands have never fascinated me. It was just you and your love for it that made me fall in love with it. Well, I still wonder what makes you so happy here."

She paused for a moment, searching for the right words to convey her thoughts. "These waves know no bounds," she finally said, a touch of wonder in her voice. "They nibble at our feet and flow, traversing vast distances across the globe. They transcend boundaries, languages, and barriers. They have no limits, or defined forms. They simply flow, much like the human mind. The waves, with their ebb and flow, mirror our own moods and emotions. And as the sun bids its final farewell, they reflect its last rays in a magnificent spectrum of colors, inviting everyone to witness and admire the beauty that Mother Earth possesses. It's something we humans need to ponder."

He listened intently, his heart swelling with love and admiration for her unique perspective. He reached out, gently grasping her hand. "Get up. Let's walk for a while," he said, pulling her up from the sand. With their hands intertwined and their sandals left behind, they embarked on a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. The waves brushed against their bare feet, leaving a trail of tiny droplets in their wake.

Time seemed to stand still as they walked, enveloped in a comfortable silence. The fading light painted the sky in hues of pink and purple, casting a surreal glow over the beach. "We should make a move now. It is getting darker," he finally said, reluctantly breaking the tranquility of the moment.

She nodded in agreement, feeling a tinge of sadness at the thought of leaving their little haven. They retraced their steps, their footsteps creating a temporary imprint in the sand. As they walked, his grip tightened, and he couldn't help but express his feelings. "Let me confess, dear. I might not be able to connect with the waves like you do, but coming to the beach with you and seeing your smile is a blessing. And I love you for that," he said, his voice filled with tenderness and sincerity.

"You know what? You may have lost your eyesight, but your Vision is Unmatched." saying that he kissed her on the forehead.

Her, well, she had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes, albeit blank eyes!

  1. The climax of her being blind is the hallmark of a master storyteller. I had a feeling it might be that one of them could have had some issue but wasn't sure. Excellent suspense and sensitivity. Great read as usual.
