Adieu 2020

Hey All, Welcome to the Blog page for the one last time this year!! The year that was 2020 and how!! Same time, last year when we all had eagerly waited for the turn of the decade, 2020 definitely had some other plans. 

A quirky recap on the way the year went by - 

The Wuhaan Virus - Masks, Sanitizers, Lockdown, Unlock 1.0, Unlock 2.0, Unlock 3.0, Unlock 4.0, Unlock 5.0 and still Unlocking. Amidst Banging the Plates to Lighting the lamps to Dalgona Coffee challenge to the Zoom Meetings to every possible challenge on facebook to the New Normal, COVID-19 taught the world that being negative(test) is good too!!

Made in China - While the nation stood together in Boycotting the Chinese products; China ensured that it made its presence felt in India - physically - in the Galwan valley, that too without Masks!!

Natural Calamities - It started with Australian Bush fires in January followed by Floods in Indonesia, Volcano Eruption in Philippines, Major Earthquakes in Turkey and Russia, Locust Swarms in Africa and Asia, Cyclone Amphan in India- Bangladesh to a less polluted world. 2020 was damn cruel!

Heroes - Faced with an unknown viral enemy, we witnessed everyday the true meaning of what it is to be a Hero. A Loud shout out to the Doctors, Nurses, Health-care workers, Policemen and every other Covid Warrior. Thank you!

Antilia - This building made the most in 2020, which perhaps they did even in 2019 and 2018 and even 2015! From cracking 18 deals worth 1.9 lakh crore to welcoming the luckiest grandkid born to yet another IPL Trophy, they did teach us that Reliance on Ambanis is a must.

Media - Turn down the Volumes please!! The debates, accusations, judgements, car chases, arrests, release, cases and shouts! The TRP game sure gave us a lot of entertainment in the lockdown or did it? Well, The nation surely wants to know That!!!

Netflix n Chill - 2020 gave us some great stories via OTT Platforms.  From Money Heist to Paatal lok to Panchayat to Scam, the OTT platforms surely shone through in the absence of any other form of recreation. B.R. Chopra however stole the show with his epics of Ramayana and Mahabharat! 2020 had Doordarshan running away with the TRP games.

Politics - Politics was pretty much the same in 2020, just that the MLAs were busy counting the number of Covid positives in their constituencies and not the votes!  Whereas, in the USA, JOE jeeta woh sikandar!! Alas Trump could not Triumph.

Sporting Legends - M.S Dhoni Retired...Period.                                                                                  Will miss Kobe Bryant and Diego Maradona!

Bollywood - Was all about NCB, Nepotism and Kangana; In between Dil Bechara released.

Economy - With a drop of 23.9% GDP in 2020; Stock Markets diving deep and Unemployment sky rocketing, Economy too faced the wrath of the year. While the outlook looks positive; it did the same this time around last year too!!

The Waiting Game - The wait for the Lockdown to get over, the wait for the Local trains to begin, the wait to move around sans the mask, the wait to travel around the globe with only Visa and not PCR tests, the wait to see kids in school uniforms, the wait for the vaccine and the wait for 2020 to finally come to a close!

2020 had caught the human race by surprise; letting us know how unprepared we are against the Almighty Nature. While we lost 1.76 Million people world over, the rest have been taught a lesson for life. 366 days of 2020 will be forever etched in our memories for teaching us not to take life, family and liberty for granted.

But, amidst tragedies we learned how to put others before ourselves. Despite resistance, despite pushback, We persisted. This is a world of resilience, a world propelled by the belief that overcoming the impossible is in fact; Possible!!

Saying that, lets hope for a better future and a fantastic 2021 ahead!
