Adieu 2025
Gather ’round, folks!
Our final and 'only' blog post of the year is here—and what a year it’s been. 2025 surely kept us on our toes! From geopolitics behaving like reality TV to markets shining literally, this was a year of plot twists, drama, and headline whiplash. Grab your popcorn—let’s rewind.
Trump’ed: Tariffs, Tweets & a Touch of Nobel:
If diplomacy had a blooper reel, Trump starred in it. Trade talks turned into stand-up comedy, tariffs were slapped like fridge magnets, and somehow—somewhere—the words “Trump” and “Nobel Peace Prize” appeared in the same sentence.
Economists blinked twice. Twitter never logged out. And the Nobel committee is probably still saying, “We were hacked, right?”
International Politics:
Canada swapped Trudeau’s selfies for Mark Carney’s spreadsheets. Germany traded Scholz for Friedrich Merz after a Bundestag nail-biter. Japan finally broke the glass ceiling with Sanae Takaichi—though her cabinet still looked like a boys’ hostel.
Namibia, meanwhile, showed real intent with a women-led government, while parts of Africa reminded us that coups still exist—because some traditions refuse to die.
Wars: Headlines on Repeat:
Russia–Ukraine continued.
Israel–Palestine–Hamas–Hezbollah–Houthis–Iran continued.
Peace talks continued to… not conclude.
Different dates, same despair.
Naughty Neighbours:
Nepal tried banning social media—Gen Z responded by banning the Prime Minister. Bangladesh battled instability and went rogue. Afghanistan and Pakistan exchanged terrorism accusations, adding yet another layer to an already fragile region.
Operation Sindoor:
April 22 brought tragedy near Pahalgam, as terrorists killed 26 innocent tourists. What followed was Operation Sindoor—India’s sharp military response with precision strikes on Pakistani bases.
With bilateral treaties suspended and diplomacy exhausted, the message was firm. The briefing—led by Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi—stood as a powerful symbol of resolve, dignity, and strength. #JaiHind
Markets in 2025: Choose Your Own Survival
Indian equities ended the year respectably—but beneath the index was a story of narrow leadership and selective pain. Small caps discovered gravity. Large caps rediscovered respect.
And then came the real stars:
Gold up ~70%
Silver up ~140%
Lesson of 2025: when the world looks uncertain, shiny things feel reassuring.
Elections 2025: Full-On Theatre:
Delhi flipped as BJP’s Rekha Gupta dethroned AAP—free Wi-Fi logged out, saffron logged in.
Bihar delivered a landslide so decisive it deserved its own folk song, with a gamcha!
Indian elections once again proved that every state is a stage—and subtlety is optional.
Cricket & Sport: Finally, History Cooperated:
2025 belonged to Indian women’s cricket. The long wait ended as the World Cup finally came home, rewriting decades of heartbreak. The women’s blind cricket team followed it up with an unbeaten world title—quietly reminding us what real dominance looks like.
RCB broke its IPL curse (miracles happen), India won the Champions Trophy, claimed the Asia Cup without lifting it, and Test cricket suffered—mostly due to ego, not opponents.
Beyond cricket, Indian sport soared: Kho Kho conquered the world, Neeraj crossed 90m, chess, shooting, para-sports and even women’s ice hockey made history. Limits were politely ignored.
Entertainment 2025: From Chhava to Saiyaara and Beyond:
Bollywood swung between scale and swagger—Chhava, Saiyaara, Dhurandhar, Baaghi 4, Metro… In Dino, and Tiger’s Last Roar brought crowds back to theatres.
OTT platforms kept us hooked with Paatal Lok, Panchayat, Mirzapur 3, Made in Heaven 3, and the controversial B**s of Bollywood.
From massy heroes to messy realities, entertainment reminded us why stories still matter.
Farewell to Legends:
The year also took away voices that shaped culture and conscience.
Indian cinema and music lost stalwarts including Dharmendra, Manoj Kumar, Govardhan Asrani, Satish Shah, Sulakshana Pandit, Pankaj Dheer, Achyut Potdar, Zubeen Garg, Sreenivasan, and Robo Shankar.
Globally, we bid farewell to Pope Francis, Giorgio Armani, Hulk Hogan, and Dickie Bird. Indian politics mourned leaders like Vijay Rupani and Shibu Soren.
Their work lives on—long after the applause fades.
Chaos Corner: Because 2025 Wasn’t Done Yet:
IndiGo: Pilots wanted rest, passengers wanted flights—everyone got character development.
Air India Flight 171: Seat 11A unlocked divine protection mode.
Red Fort blast: Terror struck heritage—but resolve stood taller.
Ranveer Allahbadia: One question, many FIRs.
Coldplay Kiss Cam: HR met memes. Memes won.
2025 was loud, exhausting, inspiring, heartbreaking, hilarious—and unforgettable. It reminded us that resilience matters, humour heals, and no year ever goes according to plan.
Here’s hoping 2026 brings calmer headlines, better sleep, smoother flights, and fewer “breaking news” alerts.
Wishing you all a Happy 2026. 🥂
