Adieu 2011 !!!
Finally its here! Time to bid Goodbye to the Year 2011…..The year has been full of fun, frolic, amusement, disasters, hope, thoughts, new beginnings, tearful endings and a bagful of mixed emotions……
Let us take a brief stroll to the year that has gone by –
The year started with loads of promises and hopes which every New Year brings with.
The US of A continued its invasion of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Kuwait, Syria…….Funding oops Finding the hidden terrorists from the caves and homes and governments and OIL WELLS and what not !
Back home came another Budget, another disappointment, innumerable rise in the CRRs and SLRs, surging Petrol Prices, sky rocketing Inflation and Empty Middle Class Pockets….
The Equity and Commodity markets decided to be on an ever depressing see-saw by being RED throughout…confusing, de-motivating and threatening Jobs every single Human soul.
In between came the moment of Glory….Yes the 28 year old wait finally came off….The helicopter shot getting India its most coveted glory- perhaps bigger than the Independence struggle – Yes…..We were finally crowned the world Champs at Mumbai and who could forget the scenes – The weeping God ala Sachin Tendulkar, The Yuvrajs and the Kohlis lifting Sir Gary and Tendulkar on their shoulders, Bhajji and Sreesanth hugging in Joy, The nation going wild on the Roads and the Midas boy MSD lifting the World Cup, 2011…..Undoubtedly The Moment of 2011.
Then came the Anna wave….Lokpal was more talked than any other issue in every Indian Household including 10 Janpath. The wave took everybody by storm … literally (ask Ramdev Baba to be precise)…Everyone had a view on it (except our Dear Prime Minister). The Loksabha sessions were conducted at Rajghat (wish they had done it in Parliament though). The Tu Tu Main Main still continues as we dawn into another year and unfortunately Lokpal eventually is now called LOCKPAL!
Then came the wave of RA-1….SRK decided to spent entire Bangladesh’s and Nepal’s GDP on his Blitzkrieg Marketing strategy for RA-1. The overdose eventually culminated into virtually nothing (though SRK fans would strongly disagree).Whatever said and done….An attempt worth noticing !
Then came the surge of Pakistani stars – Veena Malik (Patel), Atif Aslam yet again (I wonder he is now called Non Resident Pakistani),Ali Zafar(of Mere Brother ki Dulhan fame) and last but definitely not the least – Hina Rabanni Khar !
Junior B, Son of Big B had a Baby B and every News channel had a JALSA !Right from the zodiac to her looks to her weight to her homecoming to her secret pics !Hope junior B now gets 3G se Busy !
Then came the Mythological wave….I mean Dhanush (read as arrow)….WHY THIS KOLAVARY D ? took the entire nation by storm, surpise and dilemma…such that Kapil Sibbal must have thought to include this question in the DU Exams!!!! Moral –Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Sir Lord Rajnikant (and even his family members) Rule, Rock and Run in our Veins… Enna Rascalla way !!!
The Gadget world was bombarded with the Apples and the Blackberries and the Samsungs…..We all lost the TAB on the features offered…..Bravo to this episode of 2011 when laptops were used as phones and vice versa !Desktops suddenly seem Dinosaurs ……Much more to come though !
We parted with many legends though this year – Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand, Jagjit Singh, Bhupen Hazarika, Joe Frazier, Steve Jobs, MF Hussain,Tiger Patudi, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi to name a few. May God bless their soul….You will be Remembered forever!
This year also saw some of the most celebrated deaths world over. The Most sought after man on earth – Osama Bin Laden from captured from his ever-so-secure Villa of Obbatabad in Pakistan(surprise surpise !!!!!)…. Entire USA heaved a sigh of relief while Pakistan continued paying homage to its most beloved Soldier! General Gaddafi was sneaked out of this Hideout and thrashed to Death in Libya. Elsewhere the entire nation of North Korea wept on the death of its beloved Dear Leader Kim Jong-II.
The year comes to an end leaving many a thoughts to Ponder on, Many a Memories to Cherish, Many a Worries to Dig in, Many a Hopes to thrive on, Many a Questions to Answer, Many a wishes to fulfill and Many a Dreams to Conquer !
On a Personal front….The year was full of Shocks, if not Surprises, of Disappointments and Rejuvenations, of Heart Break and Rebounding, of Lost Friendships and New found Buddies, of Insomnias and Sleepless Nights, of Beautiful Drives and Wonderful Camaraderie, of Soul Searching and Overcoming Fears, of Facebook Updates and Thoughtful Blogs, of Tears on the cheeks and Twinkle in the eyes, of eventful past and endearing Future!!!
All said and done….Year 2011 will be Remembered …. If not cherished!!!!!
